Legends From Jamaica, Queens, NYC - Past, Present and Future |
All About All Of The Arts, Performers, Entrepreneurs & You
We were known for our Monthly Jazz, Poetry, Hip Hop & R&B Showcases as well as The Artist Market Pop Up Shops and Sip & Paint Nights - we've listened and thought and thought some more - and have re-organized to bring everyone together and provide an innovative Platform for All. With Several Themed Film Festivals with Live Performances, Vendors, Entrepreneurs and Community Groups per Year, Everyone is Red Carpet VIP. Our local and Tri-State Area Filmmakers, Artists, Performers (all genres) now have the perfect way to Share, Meet and Connect with the Community, Businesses and Other Artists. We love bringing everyone together to Celebrate Talent and experience something that our community typically does not have. We also love making History with you in the most Historic Area of Queens, NY, and Queens, NY as we know is the most diverse borough in the city! With Opportunities for Sponsors, Vendors, Ad Space and Community Leader Introductions - we've packed much in to either 1 Day or 4 Day Film Festivals. And why not? There are quite a few movies, web series, music/poetry videos being filmed in Southeast Queens and you should meet and speak and support them. They are usually found at our Film Festivals too! |

WE'RE STILL LEGENDARY!
And We Are...
Founded by a Mother and Son Duo, both Creatives, Queens Underground was destiny. Manifesting from various pieces, it, over the decades became the whole. Having had several businesses, careers, education and experiences, one day (with a suggestion from a friend prefaced with, I can't help you but,...), the light, as they same, came on and the team of two was inspired to reinvent the Traditional Film Festival model based on the programming they offered at the brick-and-mortar Art Studio in their neighborhood.
The mom, Adrienne explains that a major challenge was always having to choose one type of activity or another - why can't we have everything together, especially when most of us have multiple interests, abilities, hobbies and aspirations. Our Open Mic Nights proved that the various Genres and Categories meld well together and this what we do. The Filmmaker, Singer, Entrepreneur, Dance, Web Series/Talk Show Producer, Poet, Community Group, Chef, Baker and Clothing Designer can share a Platform, the Big Screen and customers. All of our Red Carpet Hosts really have their own Talk Shows and typically the Festival Host is a working Comedian.
We also have Live Performances and a Pop-Up Shop during the In-Person Events which are then recorded and added to the Virtual Platform. The other advantage of the Virtual Platform is that it's accessible for another month, can repeat at another time -the way we do for the October Festival which airs again over the Thanksgiving Holidays.
About Us? We're the ones who see only possibilities and opportunities to shift and add more for all of the underserved, underrepresented and professional Creative et al. And while it has not been easy or scary or hectic, it most certainly has and still is, it's something that must be done and we're just happy that we and our small dedicated, talented team have been asked by Destiny to develop, cultivate and expand this much needed Platform.
Much Thanks to so many Filmmakers, Producers and Entrepreneurs who have also volunteered, promoted, spread the word and show up for every event. Without this level of sincere support to help us help others - the road would become an almost insurmountable challenge.
We produce the October/November and February/April Film Festivals and are hoping to introduce a few new events throughout the year.
How Can You Support? By Submitting to the Festival, Becoming A Vendor or Sponsor. Our non-profit accepts donations and media partners. Ad Space in the Playbill is available as well as Vending Space and Performance Time.
What Else Do We Do? We're building out our own Internet TV Station and going to Host a Live monthly Indie Movie Review Show "Best Of The Boroughs".
We co-host a monthly Indie Filmmakers Forum with Sakal Streaming every 1st Saturday of the month with Filmmakers from around the world on Zoom.
...And working on a few more pretty cool ideas!
